Hiccup - A Rabbit's Tale

Yes GYRabbits, the events of the past week have been but a hiccup in the history of the Association. We were all heart sick to learn of the resignation of Terry Thornton, our founder, but encouraged that he has accepted the position of Graveyard Rabbit Emeritus. We can not thank him enough for his creation. We also can not, should not, turn tail on an Association that, through Terry's efforts, we've come to love and promote.

There have been many messages concerning the direction the Association was heading. To a rabbit this is how most of you felt...

I have no interest in going to meetings, writing white papers or being on committees; We have taken a casual association too seriously; I did not join a 'political' organization; I thought it was rather pure and wonderful; I don't understand the need for membership dues.

We heard you, loud and clear. And we ask you to please

Return With Us Now To Those Thrilling Days Of Yesteryear!

The original concept is alive, well and again beating in the heart of this Association. We Graveyard Rabbits need to stick together - stand with and for each other - support and encourage one another. This is what Graveyard Rabbits do best.

The Association is not going anywhere near the "formal organization" arena anytime soon. No membership dues, no national meetings, no committees; we intend to remain a completely online endeavor. And with your cooperation we hope to be the best online association EVER!

The day to day chores are being shared. All those things you've come to expect as a member of the GYRabbits will remain. Below is a list of members who have volunteered for many of the existing features of the Association Blog.

Dearest fM,

And I thought I was the only one who felt that way, that I was just being a stick in the mud! I too thought this whole thing was getting out of hand, too formal, too...too...too something! I know that I don't have time to search out hotels or restaurants, much less rewrite bylaws (hence the lack of new posts on my blogs!).

I hope this isn't the reason Terry resigned. I know he put A LOT of work into everything, but I think it just got outa hand, grew too fast. I hope Terry is ok and that he will soon be back to his usual talkative ("blogative"?) self very soon.

I'm glad the Rabbits are remaining an online association, following their own virtual bunny trails through cyberland!

You have just echoed what most of the GYRabbits have been thinking.

We are a great online community and there will be some announcements soon of things to look forward to - online.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know how you feel. This is your association.

And I LOVE "following their own virtual bunny trails through cyberland!"

I wholeheartedly support this direction for the Graveyard Rabbits! Thanks to everyone who has stepped up and seen us through this difficult time. I feel very enthusiastic and excited about our group and I think great things are ahead. Thanks to Terry for his great work - it has been his labor of love that we have all benefited from!
